Agios Ioannis

Agios Ioannis

The settlement of Agios Ioannis is a few meters from Kapetaniana, after a winding, dirt road.

It its built along the Ponta peninsula .

A wonderful beach with blue and green water is in front of the few buildings of the settlement and ready to chill you with its clean water and make you admire the Libyan sea.

It is a pebbly beach and there are some taverns and mini markets near it, in order to be supplied with the necessary. The camping at the beach is not allowed, but there are many rooms to let.

If you want more seclusion, you can go to the Eligia beach, in the east of the settlement. The imposing Eligia gorge ends there. Eligia is in the beginning of the path that connects Agios Ioannis with the monastery of Koudoumas. The cavern of Agios Antonios is in the east and three beautiful beaches are beneath it.

The name of the settlement comes from the old monastery of Agios Ioannis that is in caves ( both the church and the cells of the monks).
