The Pefkos village is on the southern foot of the Psari Madara hill of the Dikti Mountain, 2141 meters above the sea level and 10 kilometers from Ano Viannos.
Pefkos is under the Viannos municipality and the district also consists of the Agios Dimitrios, Ano Kornias, Kokalara and Latomia settlements. 340 people live in the settlement and 317 people only in Pefkos. Their main occupations are olive crop, garden produce, livestock and bee keeping.
The Agios Georgios, Agios Dimitrios and Agia Anna churches and the country churches of Agios Nikolaos and Agios Theodoros are in Pefkos.
In 1583, the village was mentioned in Kastrofilakas as “Pefko”.
13 men were executed in Pefko in September of 1943 by the Nazis.
The name of the settlement is a plant’s one (“pefko” is a pine tree in Greek) and refers to the big pine tree that existed in the upper settlement.
