The Folklore Museum of Ano Asites was created in order to preserve and spread the manners and customs of the area.
The building of the museum was bought by the cultural association of the settlement in 1995 and it was inaugurated in 2005. It is a small Cretan traditional house, its storeroom and kitchen is in the ground floor and the bedroom and the living room in the first floor. Every place in the house is equipped with all the necessary objects. Old tools are in the store room, as a wooden plough, linseed breaker, etc. All the utensils used by the housewives of the area for the cheese production and the meal preparation are in the kitchen. Typewriters and duplicating machine are in the living room. And, apart from the bed and the cradle, there is a loom in the bedroom. A room is near the museum where various events take place.
