Knossano Gorge is the natural extension of the Sacred Mountain of Giouchtas and spans approximately 6 km, starting from Ano Archanes. The gorge passes through the settlement and reaches Knossos, traversing notable points such as the Sylamiano Gorge, which is accessible by car. Along the way, you will encounter scenic landmarks like the water bridge of Agia Irini in Spilia, the Karidakiani water bridge, and the now-ruined church of Panagia Kardiotissa.

The gorge is surrounded by rich vegetation, mainly hydrophilic plants such as plane trees, willows, and osiers, and is home to 11 endemic plant species. It also serves as a habitat for various wildlife, including 44 species of birds and 7 species of mammals.

The Knossano Gorge area is part of the Natura 2000 network and is easily accessible, requiring no special equipment or hiking experience.
