Μili Gorge is the ideal choice for lovers of walking, nature and history. An easy route between lush vegetation, small lakes and waterfalls.
It is a green oasis a few kilometers southeast of the city of Rethymnon. Mili gorge is located north of the village of Chromonastiri and south of the settlement of Xero Chorio.
A small stream is crossed the gorge is crossed all year round, which was the reason for the construction of water mills and flour mills during the Venetian period. Later, houses were built, thus creating the settlement of the same name, parts of which are preserved to this day. The village was abandoned in 1972 for fear of landslides.
In the gorge we find the churches of Agios Ioannis, in a rock, of Agia Paraskevi and of the Five Virgins.
