One of the most beautiful beaches of Crete is Agios Pavlos in the southern side of the Rethimno prefecture. It is 55 kilometers from Rethimno and, in order to visit it, you have to follow the road from Akoumia or Sachtouria.

The beach is ideal for the people that want quiet holidays. A beautiful bay with blue-green water is in front of the settlement and the beach is sandy and organized. Some rooms to let and taverns are near the central beach.

There are many small bays in the east of the settlement and they can be reached either by car or on foot. The most famous beach in the area is in the west of Agios Pavlos and is called Ammolofoi or Ammolofoi of Agios Pavlos. Ammolofoi is the last part of Akoumiani Gialia in the south. Ligkres is in the north end of Akoumiani Gilia and the Triopetra beach is in the center.

The Ammolofoi beach is said to be the best beach in Rethimno. In order to visit it, you should follow the path from Agios Pavlos. It is worth visiting the beach till the sunset as it is well known for its magnificent sunset.

The area is thought as an energy center and is chosen by many people for yoga.
