The ruins of Castle Nuovo are in the Psilo Kastelli hill, in the south-west of the Kastelli settlement, in the Festos municipality.

The fortress was built by the Genovese pirate, Pescatore, in 1206. The name (which means new), was given as a fortress didn’t exist before.

Very few parts of the ruins of the walls and the water reservoirs of the fortress are preserved today.
