6. Agia Roumeli - Loutro

6. Agia Roumeli - Loutro

The sixth route of the E4 European long distance path is about 13 kilometers and lasts 3 hours and 30 minutes. The best time to take it is the whole year and, especially from September to May. It is not a difficult route and there are red signs to show you the right way. Starting from Agia Roumeli, reach the river’s mouth and go to its eastern bank (if there is a lot of water in the river, there is a bridge in the north in order to go opposite). The path goes along the sea, over the beach and, for 15 minutes, goes next to the beach. After that, go up to the hill and arrive at the small church of Agios Pavlos (3,5 kilometers from Agia Roumeli) and the exit of the Ligia Gorge. The path goes up and along the beach. After the small Agioi Pantes church and about 30 minutes from Agios Pavlos, it is the cross to Agios Ioannis. Along the beach and passing the pine forest of the area, go past the mountain and go up to the hill. Having passed a small stream, a small house with a farm and two small streams with two mitata (i.e. shepherd’s shelters), continue next to the cliff and an old stone house. The path meets the exit of the Aradaina Gorge that is 65 kilometers from Agios Pavlos and the Marmara beach. Having gone through the beach and a smaller one, arrive at a bay with a small Byzantine church and go up the hilltop of the Mouri Cape. After the old tanks and the old turkish fortress, go down to the eastern center of the cape where the Loutro settlement is.
