The Archaeological Museum of Agios Nikolaos has been working since 1970 and is one of the most important museums in Crete. It is in the northern part of the lake, on the 74th of the Palaiologos Street.
The collections of the museum are interesting and important archaeological findings from the Eastern Crete and, particularly, from Mallia to Zakros.
The exhibits are from the Neolithic Era to the Roman Years. The visitor can learn about the evolution of the art of the area through the representative samples of different styles and periods.
